SamCERA’s Investment Program
SamCERA’s Board of Retirement manages the multi-billion dollar pension trust that funds the retirement benefits for members and their beneficiaries. The Board’s investment strategy reduces the volatility of returns through diversification of the portfolio across a broad selection of asset classes.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) hires a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to advise the Board and to carry out and administer the investment decisions made by the Board.
Additionally, the Board contracts with an investment consultant. The CIO, in conjunction with the investment consultant, makes recommendations to the Board regarding the investment program, its structure, investment products and investment managers.
